2/22/2010:
The Graduate Athletic Training Program is happy to announce the selection of Hollis Theard for a Graduate Assistantship starting in the Fall 2010 semester. Ms. Theard will provide athletic training services to Bulloch Academy in Statesboro, GA. Hollis comes to GSU from Elon University where she will be graduating in May with a degree in Athletic Training.

The Graduate Athletic Training Program in conjuction with the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is happy to announce the selection of Anne Bryan for a Graduate Assistantship starting in the Fall 2010 semester. Ms. Bryan comes to GSU from Longwood University where she will be graduating in May with a degree in Athletic Training.

The Graduate Athletic Training Program in conjuction with the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is happy to announce the selection of Tracy Llewellyn for a Graduate Assistantship starting in the Fall 2010 semester. Ms. Llewellyn comes to GSU from Elon University where she will be graduating in May with a degree in Athletic Training.

Ms. DiBenedetto comes to GSU from the University of Central Florida where she will be graduating in May with a degree in Athletic Training.
2/8/2010:
The Graduate Athletic Training Program in conjuction with the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is happy to announce the selection of Matt Moreau for a Graduate Assistantship starting in the Fall 2010 semester. Mr. Moreau comes to GSU from Central Michigan University where he will be graduating in May with a degree in Athletic Training. Matt is currently completing an athletic training internship at St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA.
2/2/21010:
Beth Saunders and Jada Phillips both had their abstracts accepted by the Southeast Athletic Trainers' Association Annual Meeting in Panama City, FL. Ms. Saunders will be presenting her research findings as an Oral Report on Friday, March 19th. On the same day, Ms. Phillips will be present her research findings as a poster presentation. Congratulations to Beth and Jada on their acceptance.
1/11/2010:
Two Athletic Training Graduate Students submitted abstracts to the 2010 Southeast Athletic Trainers' Association (SEATA) Annual Meeting in Panama City, FL.
- Beth Saunders (Faculty Advisors: Dr. Buckley, Dr. Metzler, Dr. Burdette, and Dr. Czech), "The Effectiveness of 'Heads Up' on Coaching Education Students Knowledge of Sports Related Concussions"
- Jada Phillips (Faculty Advisors: Dr. Buckley, Dr. Metzler, and Dr. Burdette), "The Relationship Between the Athlete and the Athletic Trainer and how if Effects Concussion Symptom Reporting."

7/15/2009:
The Georgia Southern Athletic Training Graduate Program welcomes John Erwin, ATC as the newest member of the Clinical Athletic Training Staff. Mr. Erwin comes to Georgia Southern after completing his Master of Science degree from Arkansas State University. Mr. Erwin's primary responsibility will be providing Athletic Training services to the Men's Basketball program. Mr. Erwin will also supervise Graduate and Undergraduate students in the Athletic Training programs.

A busy day at the National Athletic Trainers' Association Annual meeting for the Graduate Athletic Training Program.
Elizabeth Saunders (Class of 2010) presented her poster; "Concussion Misconceptions Amongst High School Coaches in Georgia"
Jennifer Tolson (Class of 2009) presented her poster, "Gait Initiation in Athletes with Chronic Ankle Instability: The Influence of Velocity and Direction"
Dr. Buckley gave a podium presentation entitled, "Dynmaic Postural Stability during Gait Initiation is Impaired Following a Concussion: A Preliminary Analysis."

Elizabeth Raycraft, M.S., ATC accepted a position as an Athletic Trainer with MidMichigan Medical Offices in Freeland, MI. Ms. Raycraft will be working in the clinic during the day and at a local high school in the afternoon.
Jennifer Tolson, M.S., ATC accepted a position as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Glenville State College in Glenville, WV.

Dr. Buckley gave a general session presentation at SEATA entitled, "Concussions: What Your High School Coaches "Know". At the same SEATA conference, Dr. Buckley's presented a research abstract entitled, "Dynamic Postural Stability during Dual-Task Gait Initiation is Impaired Following a Concussion: A Preliminary Analysis".

Dr. Buckley gave a research presentation at the Annual Meeting of the Southeast Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine in Birmingham, AL. Dr. Buckley presented, "Variability in 1-RM Strength amongst Parkinson Disease Patients."
1/27/2009:

Ms. Kirby comes to GSU from Cedarville University in Cedarville, OH where she will be graduating in May with a degree in Athletic Training
1/16-17/2009:
The Georgia Southern Athletic Training Faculty and Graduate Students play a large role at the Georgia Athletic Training Association Annual Meeting in Peachtree City, GA. Dr. Buckley opened the meeting with an overview of recent research findings on Concussions as a part of a panel entitled, "A Comprehensive Approach to Concussion Care." Georgia Southern Univerisities Athletic Training program closed the session on Saturday afternoon with case studies presentations by graduate students, Ms. Jennifer Tolson and Mr. Brian Seiler.
12/12/2008:
Ms. Jennifer Tolson,(Class of 2009), received an $563.55 masters research grant from the NATA Research & Education Foundation. The grant supports her Thesis research project; "Dynamic Postural Stability during Gait Initiation in Individuals with Chronic Ankle Instability: Influence of Velocity and Direction".
12/1/2008:
Three members of the Georgia Southern Athletic Training program submitted abstracts for the NATA Annual Meeting in June 2009. Ms. Jennifer Tolson submitted an original research abstract based on her thesis work entitled, "Dynamic Postural Stability during Gait Initiation in Individuals with Chronic Ankle Instability: Influence of Velocity and Direction" and Ms. Beth Saunders submitted an origianl research abstract entitled, "Limited Impact of “Heads Up – Concussion in Youth Sports“ Amongst Georgia High School Coaches." Finally, Dr. Buckley and Dr. Munkasy submitted an original research abstract entitled, "Dynmaic Postural Stability during Gait Initiation is Impaired Following a Concussion: A Preliminary Analysis".
