Sport Psychology - Graduate

 

 

Program of Study

Two Tracks to the MS in Kinesiology with a Sport Psychology Emphasis:

1. Thesis

Allows students to further their knowledge in a research topic of interest in the hopes of publication and possible doctoral study. See Thesis Guidelines.

Possible Sport Psychology Doctoral Programs housed in Kinesiology/Sport Science Departments after experiencing this program:

  • University of Tennessee
  • University of West Virginia
  • University of Utah
  • University of Northern Colorado
  • University of Missouri
  • University of North Carolina, Greensboro
  • Temple University University of Idaho

(Although students have attended other doctoral programs in years past, these applied doctoral programs coincide with the preparation and training that you will receive at GSU).

2. Internship

Allows student to further their knowledge in the applied setting in the hopes of future employment after the Master's Degree. See Internship Guidelines.

  • Performance Enhancement Specialist at a Military Performance Enhancement Center
  • Community Sport Organization (YMCA, Boys and Girl Club, CYC)
  • Youth Sport Specialist in Sport Psychology
  • Performance Enhancement Specialist at a major Performance Enhancement Facility (IMG, Chris Evert Academy, Velocity Sports)
  • Community College Instructor
  • Academic Advisor/Counselor Positions a major NCAA Institution
  • Private Practice in Mental Coaching/Sport Psychology Consulting
