Nutrition and Food Science
Student Learning Outcome
The DPD curriculum is designed to achieve the foundation knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to prepare graduates for a dietetic internship program or to pursue careers in nutrition, food science, wellness and health, or food service administration. The DPD standards are consistent with those of CADE's Professional Standards.
Students are provided with a Student Handbook to help guide them through the academic program. All students who successfully complete the DPD receive a verification statement from the program director that enables them to apply for an ADA accredited dietetic internship. The dietetic internship consists of a minimum 1,200 hours of supervised practice to gain the competencies needed to practice as an entry-level dietitian. Upon completion of the dietetic internship, students are eligible to take the National Registration Examination of the Commission of Dietetic Registration, and become a Registered Dietitian (RD).
