Community Health
Overview
The major in Community Health prepares students to work with all populations in community health settings. With a strong focus on public health, community health educators possess professional expertise in the areas of program planning, implementation and evaluation of disease prevention and health promotion activities. Specifically, Georgia Southern University trains its Community Health majors to conduct educational programs in the areas of Health & Disease, Substance Use & Abuse, Gerontology, and Maternal and Child Health. Particular professional skills emphasized in the program include research, grant writing and epidemiology. This major also provides the foundation to advance in graduate degree programs such as the Master of Public Health (M.P.H.), the Master in Health Services Administration (M.H.S.A.), Physicians's Assistant (P.A.) Programs, and other Allied Health areas. This program consists of 125 semester credits and is designed to be completed in four years.
