Graduate Assistantship
The department of Hospitality, Tourism and Family & Consumer Sciences houses two graduate degree programs- the Master of Science in Sport Management and the Master of Science in Recreation. The department has four graduate assistantships which provide tuition waivers and a stipend of $6600 per academic year. Graduate Assistants work for the department or for the Athletic Department from 15-20 hours per week throughout the semester. Graduate students in both programs have the opportunity to do a full semester internship with one of the many sport and recreation agencies that have affiliations with the degree programs. Students are encouraged to work with their graduate advisors to secure internships in industries that will provide the best learning experiences and opportunities for developing professional skills relating to their interest areas.
