TRANSFER STUDENTS WITH AN INTERIOR DESIGN MAJOR FROM OTHER SCHOOLS:
Transfer students must first apply to the University and have any core curriculum courses being considered for transfer credit evaluated by university admissions.
Students transferring in with Interior Design course credits from other schools are required to have their portfolio and transcript(s) evaluated by the Interior Design Program Co-coordinator, who is responsible for determining which design courses receive transfer credit.
It is the student’s responsibility to contact the coordinator to set up an appointment for review. Preliminary information may be sent via email or fax to begin the review process, which is typically followed by a personal interview and portfolio evaluation. The Interior Design Program must adhere to accreditation and its own program standards in the transfer review process. There are not set requirements between interior design programs, and content for individual courses typically varies greatly from program to program. There is no guarantee that course work from other programs will be accepted for transfer credit. Students should plan well in advance to make certain all required materials have been received.
For a portfolio review the following information will be needed:
1. Copy of official transcript with all courses and grades
(Please highlight name of student, specific courses to be considered, and overall GPA)
2. Catalog descriptions for all courses that are being considered. (interior design, art, architecture, related fields)
For each course being reviewed, the following are required:
3. Syllabi covering expected student outcomes for the course
4. List of textbooks required and used
5. Project descriptions
6. Project work (actual student work is typically required)
7. Presentation work and process drawings
Additional items that may be required:
Photos of art work and three-dimensional projects
Student’s class notes
