Interior Design

Welcome to the Interior Design Program at Georgia Southern!

This website contains lots of important information for potential and current students of the program. If you are new to us, here are four things you should know about our program:

It Is Recognized.

In addition to its Council for Interior Design accreditation, the Interior Design Program at Georgia Southern University is recognized by employers who seek out our interns and graduates, and alumni who remain an active part of the program.

Our students are recognized on the national, state and local level for their achievements in interior design. Recent recognition of student achievements and scholarship funds have come from the American Society for Interior Designers, International Interior Design Association, Network of Executive Women in Hospitality, Design /Build Division of Associated Schools of Construction/ Associated General Contractors Region II Student Competition, and the Home Builders Association of Statesboro.

It Is Responsive.

The close-knit faculty work together closely to make certain that changes in the profession are addressed, while providing a strong foundation in design fundamentals that will prepare students for the many diverse career paths our graduates take.

Our advisory board is comprised of working professionals in the design industry, including some of our own alumni, to provide faculty and students with practical insight from throughout the region. Firms represented on our advisory board include: Cogdell and Mendrala Architects, David G. Sands Interior Design, Farrington Design Group, Greenline Architecture, HBA/Hirsh Bedner Associates Design Consultants, Image Design Inc, James W. Buckley and Associates, LeVino Jones Medical Interiors, The Mohawk Group, Perkins + Will, Shaw Contract Group and Southeastern Hospitality Services.

It Is Rigorous.

The program provides students a broad range of knowledge and skills to prepare them for entry into the design profession, or to further their education at the graduate level. The program challenges students to excel academically, creatively and technically, and supports their development throughout the curriculum.

It Is Rewarding.

Our graduates don’t leave with just the sense of accomplishment that an exceptional design education brings—the friendships started in our small classrooms last for many years to come. Student trips, student group activities, and most of all, the design studio, bring our students together.
