Georgia Southern University President Details Proposed Budget Cuts

We were recently made aware that state legislators are considering imposing an additional $300 million reduction to higher education in Georgia. In addition to the more than $11 million reduction that Georgia Southern had already planned for this year, we are now being asked to plan for an additional $14.7 million reduction. This would bring our total reduction to more than $25 million or approximately 30% in cuts to the University’s operating budget in just two years.

Nursing in Costa Rica

Wouldn’t you rather take one of your nursing courses or an elective while 
having the adventure of a lifetimein one of the world’s most beautiful and 
fascinating countries?  This study abroad program integrates theory on 
health and culture with service learning to provide students a deeper and 
more meaningful study abroad experience using Costa Rica as the model 
country. Students will apply theoretical concepts through cultural immersion 
in selected service-learning settings in underserved communities and 
vulnerable populations. Students will examine their lived experience and 
understanding of health and culture through lectures, interaction of 
community leaders, host families, sites visits, and hands-on practice in 
community settings. Excursions, organized activities and visits to cultural 
and historical sites are part of the course.This undergraduate 6 credit 
semester hour program is open pre-nursing, nursing, and all other majors.
