Undergraduate Majors - Registered Nurse Programs
RN-BSN Program - Online
Registered nurses who wish to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree may do so in a part-time or full-time RN-BSN Completion Program – Online. The BSN Program at Georgia Southern University is approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing and accredited by the CCNE. Students are allowed to complete their non-nursing course work at institutions close to their places of employment. Faculty advisors work with students on a regular basis to help them plan their matriculation. Special educational experiences that our students are offered include field trips, retreats, and interaction with content experts in chat sessions in selected courses. Graduates of the RN-BSN Program are employed in leadership positions in hospitals, community agencies, public health, hospice and other areas.
Online Teaching and Learning. The online program and course objectives are identical to those for conventional classroom teaching; however, instructional methods that fit the requirements of online education are employed within the courses. Both synchronous and asynchronous formats are used. Most of the course work is asynchronous but chat sessions are scheduled in selected online courses. The purposes of the chat sessions vary, for example, some chats include content experts from other universities and/or persons in other professional practice arenas, and the objectives of additional chat sessions are to discuss the course, the needs/concerns of the students, and/or the topic for the day. Alternative assignments are available as necessary. The asynchronous interactions include discussion board posts (introduction, critical thinking questions/activities, and threaded discussions), in-course mail, external e-mail, online office hours, and phone/fax communication.
